Singapore MICE Challenge 2016

The Singapore MICE Challenge is a nationwide challenge for all tertiary students majoring in MICE or Business Events, Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism related fields. Organised by SACEOS, the association representing the MICE and Events industry in Singapore, the Singapore MICE Challenge 2015 engages competing teams on their knowledge and understanding of the MICE industry to create a successful business event.

The main aim of the challenge is:

  1. To provide a platform for students to develop their creativity and present fresh and unique ideas for the industry.

  2. By applying what they learnt in school, students gain real-life experiences of conceptualizing, business-testing and organizing a MICE event.

  3. Working with various MICE leaders and professionals, the MICE Challenge will engage tertiary students by challenging them to apply theory to practicality.

The Challenge: Proposal

The MICE industry supports and plays up Singapore’s economic strengths, entrenching the city as a thought leader in 10 broad industry clusters. The industry clusters are as follows: Design, Education, Healthcare & Bio-medical, Innovation, Media & Digital Content, Social Sector, Sports, Transport & Logistics, Travel and Urban Solutions. With the focus on 2 industry clusters identified for the Challenge – ICT & Media and Energy & Environment, audience may expect to hear a series of creative ideas on how an exhibition and/or conference can be organised.

The Challenge: Presentation 

  1. 5 minute Pitch Presentation and 3 minute Q&A session

Competing teams will present their final proposal to the panel of judges made up by some of the top MICE leaders in the world.

Winning Prize

The winning team of 4 will be invited for a fully sponsored trip to attend Convening Leaders 2017 next January in Austin, Texas to interact with more than 4,000 industry thought leaders from the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

4 of our students from TMC Higher Diploma H&T participated in this MICE challenge. They are currently in the midst of this competition. They will present their ideas to the judges end July 2016.
