Certificate in English
In the Certificate in English programme, students will build a solid foundation of English skills they can use to communicate in vocational, casual and academic environments. We emphasise speaking, writing, reading, and listening, as well as grammar. Classes are designed so that students have many opportunities to communicate with their classmates.
There are two options of delivery modes – depending on student’s choice:
1. Classroom and Activity based learning (full day programme): 3 hours of lessons, with 3 hours of activities and guided sessions in the Independent Learning Centre daily
2. Classroom-only based learning (half day programme): 3 hours of lessons daily

Developing the skills and confidence to use English beyond the classroom environment
Upper Intermediate A and B focus:
Note taking
Study skills, vocabulary building
Listening for gist and meaning
Reading – skimming, scanning, reading for meaning
Academic writing (topic sentences, supporting sentences, paragraphs, organisation; essays and reviews)
Research, resources, and fact checking
Course Assessment
Examinations, assignments, class tests, and/or class participation.
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete and pass the levels signed up for will be awarded the Certificate in English from TMC Academy.
